Support The Energy Savings And Industrial Competitiveness Act of 2013

The U.S. Senate is set to take up the Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act, S. 1392, on Sept. 10.  VI has supported the bill and a proposed amendment on the federal government’s use of green building rating systems that calls for greater accountability and transparency to protect the use of taxpayer dollars and provide clearer direction to federal agencies.

In particular, the amendment would: allow the use of multiple green building rating systems; replace the current five-year review period; require credits to be based on the best available science and risk assessment methodology; and require neutral selection criteria in regards to technology, brand, product, and material.
