The Vinyl Building Council Celebrates First Executive Director

Kate Offringa

ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 1, 2014 – The Vinyl Building Council (VBC), a self-funded business council of the Vinyl Institute, has brought on board Kate Offringa as the group’s first Executive Director.  Ms. Offringa will oversee the VBC’s strategic direction and operational excellence as the council coordinates the vinyl industry’s federal and state advocacy in the building and construction sectors.

Prior to joining the VBC, Ms. Offringa served as the President and CEO of the North American Insulation Manufacturers Association, where over the past five years she delivered dramatic market growth opportunities for NAIMA members.  A key focus of her efforts was to increase the insulation industry’s visibility and influence with Congress, the Administration, and the States.  Prior to becoming NAIMA’s President and CEO, Ms. Offringa serviced as the association’s Vice President of Public Affairs, a role that will serve the interests of the VBC on behalf of the vinyl industry.  Ms. Offringa also served as the Director of Market Transformation with the Alliance to Save Energy.

“I am thrilled with the opportunity to work with such a vibrant industry and one that is bringing to market so many valued building products in meeting society’s needs,” noted Kate Offringa.  “I see that the VBC has been off to a tremendous start over the past year with significant wins at the federal and state level, most notably with GSA and in Ohio.  As we work to engage the broader vinyl value chain in support or our industry’s advocacy agenda we will use this momentum to gain even more successes that will benefit vinyl product producers across all sectors.  Working together as an industry through the VBC will pay significant dividends,” Offringa added.

“The timing of bringing on board a demonstrated leader with Kate Offringa’s qualifications couldn’t be better for the members of the Vinyl Building Council and the overall vinyl industry,” stated VI President Dick Doyle.  “The VBC has taken on a leading role for the vinyl industry in promoting the importance of consensus-based green building rating systems, advancing the energy efficiency benefits of vinyl product applications, and demonstrating the overall life cycle benefits of vinyl building products.   With Kate Offringa at the helm, the VBC will continue to bring together all sectors of the vinyl industry in advancing a coordinated advocacy plan.”
