Purpose

PVC/vinyl sustainability is essential.

From the financial markets to the marketplace, consumers, retailers, and investors have made it clear: there is a need to do more with less.

Sustainability has gone mainstream, and the vinyl industry must step up and do our part. We must help ensure that we have enough natural resources, clean water, food, and fresh air to sustain the global population as it continues to grow.

That’s why the Vinyl Institute established a robust and comprehensive
sustainability approach in 2015, building on existing efforts throughout the industry. VI members knew they could go further by collaborating across the industry, so we formed the Vinyl Sustainability Council (VSC)—bringing together partners across the vinyl value chain to develop and implement the strategy and tactics to move the U.S. vinyl industry forward.

The VSC undertook a materiality assessment to help identify the areas where the industry can have the largest impact and created Vantage Vinyl™, a sustainability framework that verifies a company’s sustainable operations through an independent third-party.
