2024 Vinyl Institute Year in Review
2024 was an eventful year for the world of vinyl.
There were bills introduced in several states that would have banned PVC with varied degrees of severity. There were multiple UN plastics treaty conversations in which some delegations called for outright bans on certain products or production caps for plastic resins. There continues to be much work related to EPA’s designation of vinyl chloride as a high-priority substance under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).
With all of these headwinds facing our industry at the same time, it’s never been more important to educate stakeholders and the general public on the critically important uses of vinyl products.
Vital water infrastructure. Clean water delivery. Safe hospital visits for both patient and doctor. Packaging applications to keep food fresh for longer. Low carbon, long lasting alternatives in the building and construction industry.
These are some of the many ways in which PVC products impact life around the globe. We’ve done so much this past year to make as many people aware of these vital uses as possible, but the work continues.
Take a look at the Vinyl Institute’s 2024 By the Numbers – we can’t wait to advocate for the industry again in 2025 and beyond!
