Have a Safe School Year with Vinyl

By | August 2020

This year’s back-to-school season looks a bit different.

In the past, we’ve written about why vinyl/PVC is an excellent choice for many of your child’s school supplies—and this still holds true! If you’re doing school shopping, we’d encourage you to still take a look at the vinyl/PVC offerings that are out there, as these items are both a safe choice and a durable one, likely to last the tests of the school year.

Amid the pandemic, many school systems are making decisions on how to keep students safe, while also ensuring they’re receiving a quality education. Some school systems are moving forward with virtual education, but others are getting kids back in the classroom. For those transitioning back to the classroom, many will look different than as teachers do their best to enforce social distancing to prevent further spread.

We’re impressed by the innovations we’re seeing to transform the classroom, and of course, we’re excited to see how vinyl/PVC is playing a role. So far we’ve seen a hands-free sanitizer dispensing station made out of PVC pipe, as well as dividers that use plastic sheet and PVC pipe to separate pods of desks. And for those students that are deaf or hard of hearing, these masks that have a vinyl/PVC window allow them to learn without impeding in their communication ability.

Besides these new additions, vinyl flooring has always been an excellent choice for schools, as it can withstand the heavy foot traffic schools see daily. But during the pandemic, vinyl flooring has the added benefit of being a surface that is often easier to clean and disinfect than some other flooring alternatives. Additionally, as we’ve seen in grocery stores and other public spaces throughout the last several months, we expect to see more vinyl floor decals encouraging students to keep a six-foot distance while in the hallways, or perhaps arrows noting hallways as one-way. And as many reception areas have implemented, sneeze guards made out of vinyl/PVC may also be a new feature of a school’s front office.

No matter what learning looks like this year for your kids, PVC and vinyl are there to keep you safe.
