Showcase Career Opportunities in Your Facility – Participate in Manufacturing Day
Save the date—Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) is coming up on Oct. 4! Created in 2012 by the Founding Partner Fabricators and Manufacturers Association, MFG Day is now hosted annually by the National Association of Manufacturers and occurs the first Friday of October. What is it? A way to show the reality of modern manufacturing careers by encouraging companies and educational institutions to invite students, parents, teachers and community leaders.
A career in manufacturing has not always had the best reputation, but manufacturers are ready to show just how lucrative of a career it can be. Over the next decade, 4.6 million jobs will need to be filled in manufacturing—and these jobs are high skill, high tech and high paying, and it’s a chance to see just how manufacturers are innovating.
As a trade association representing vinyl manufacturers, the Vinyl Institute thought it important to endorse this unique event and hope you’ll join us in participating. How? Here are some ideas:
- Host a plant tour—this allows members of your community to observe your plants operations first-hand.
- Exhibit at a job fair or educational fair—if your city or town, or the local high school, is hosting some sort of job fair during October, see if you can set up a booth to talk with potential employees.
- Participate in a celebration—sometimes, Chambers of Commerce, or manufacturing associations will host a celebration to kick off Manufacturing Day. See if there are any near you that you can tag on to. If not, try connecting with someone at these organizations to see if one can be planned.
Whether it’s through spreading awareness on social media, attending an event or hosting one, there are a variety of ways to get involved. For more information, click here.
