WASHINGTON – The Vinyl Institute (VI), the U.S. trade association representing manufacturers of vinyl, vinyl chloride monomer (VCM), additives, and modifiers, presented Mary Bachynsky, Corporate Director of Environmental and Permitting for Formosa Plastics Corporation U.S.A., with the first-ever Chairman’s Honor Award, for her dedication to VI’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Committee and PVC MACT Working Group.

“For nearly 20 years, the VI has benefitted from Mary’s technical expertise, and her fantastic leadership qualities,” said Ned Monroe, VI President/CEO. “And the PVC industry is fortunate to have Mary providing strategic and technical expertise that’s grown the safe manufacturing of vinyl. She’s been a remarkable ambassador for the entire industry and for Formosa Plastics Company.”

Bachynsky has been a longstanding member of the VI’s Operating Committee for the last 15 years and has chaired the VI’s HSE Committee for 14 years. Additionally, she has served as the chair of the PVC MACT Working Group since 2009 where she and other members have worked tirelessly to provide data and information to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to establish responsible  emissions limits of the PVC MACT industry regulation.

In addition, thanks to her wide depth of knowledge of Federal, State, and Local regulatory issues, Bachynsky’s leadership created a greater understanding of how regulations affect resin production, and built a collective path of compliance. She has always openly shared her expert technical interpretations for the benefit of not only VI membership, but the entire vinyl industry and the communities where we operate.
