The Vinyl Institute’s Congressional Champion Award was established by the VI in 2019 as a way to honor Members of Congress who have advanced the vinyl industry’s legislative priorities in their states and districts; respond effectively to constituents’ needs and concerns; and support legislation that uses taxpayer dollars responsibly in addressing the critical needs of the nation and keeps our economy strong and thriving. It is presented annually.
“The members of the Vinyl Institute are honored to recognize Senator Boozman with this award for his unwavering commitment and advocacy for federal investment in our nation’s water infrastructure,” said Ned Monroe, Vinyl Institute President & CEO. “He has worked tirelessly to build bipartisan support for investment in drinking water and wastewater infrastructure that continues to benefit our economy and all American families.”
Senator Boozman represents Arkansas, which employs more than 2,000 people in the vinyl industry with an economic impact of more than $474 million. Boozman currently serves on the Appropriations Committee, the Environment and Public Works Committee (where he co-sponsored and helped push through TSCA reform on a bipartisan basis), the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, and the Agriculture Committee where he serves as the ranking member.
As an example of his longstanding commitment to our nation’s water infrastructure, Senator Boozman authored legislation incentivizing low-interest financing options for water resource projects to guarantee that critical irrigation and groundwater projects are possible.
During his time in Congress, Senator Boozman has been a voice for veterans. As a member of the House of Representatives, he supported and passed legislation to improve the transition to civilian life, expand treatments for our wounded warriors and modernize educational benefits under the G.I. Bill. In the Senate, he has championed legislation to eliminate barriers to VA care and services for women veterans, improve veteran suicide prevention efforts, strengthen access to health care among many other initiatives.
The Senator is also a tireless champion of agriculture and Arkansas farmers and ranchers. His position on the Agriculture Committee, where he can impact the agricultural community directly through the farm bill, along with his seat on the Environment and Public Works Committee ensures his ability to fight to include PVC as part of the solution to climate change.
