Aug. 20, 2019

By | August 2019

We’re excited to share that the Vinyl Institute will select up to three students to receive travel grants to attend the Society of Plastics Engineers’ Vinyltec 2019 in Akron, Ohio. Vinyltec is the largest vinyl-focused technical conference in the United States. There, new developments in the vinyl industry are unveiled and participants receive training on niche areas of the industry. This year’s conference will focus on megatrends in vinyl, specifically automotive, medical, construction and sustainability. The travel grant will cover the cost of registration for the full conference and travel and hotel costs.

At the 2017 Vinyltec, Kyle Kilopen, who was studying chemical engineering at Michigan State University, was surprised to learn just how widespread vinyl usage was and how expansive the industry actually is. You can read more about Kyle’s experience here.

To apply for the 2019 Vinyltec Travel Grant, a prospective grantee must:

  1. Be enrolled at an accredited U.S. university
  2. Be pursuing a degree in polymer science, material science, chemistry or chemical engineering
  3. Be able to travel to Akron, Ohio, and attend Vinyltec from Oct. 1-3, 2019.

Grant applications must be received by Sara Goodwin (sgoodwin@vinylinfo.org) by Sept. 13, 2019 for consideration. Click here to download the application.
