Vinyl Institute Signs REMADE Institute’s Earth Day Pledge

WASHINGTON, DC – The Vinyl Institute (VI), the U.S. trade association representing manufacturers of vinyl, vinyl chloride monomer (VCM), additives, and modifiers, signed today the Reducing Embodied-Energy and Decreasing Emissions (REMADE) Institute’s 2021 Earth Day pledge, along with more than 25 other companies.

“Earth Day has long been an observance that our industry has recognized and celebrated,” said Ned Monroe, VI CEO/President. “It is the collective responsibility of every individual and every business to find ways to protect our planet and our resources, and the vinyl industry strives to make advancements in many sustainability areas to do just that. Signing the REMADE Institute’s pledge is another written committment of our intent.”

The REMADE Institute leads a consortium of industry and academic leaders and U.S. national laboratories to drive the nation’s transition to a circular economy and a sustainable manufacturing future. The VI joined the REMADE Institute in January as an affiliate member.The Pledge seeks to accelerate the nation’s transition to a circular economy, increase the efficiency of resource use in manufacturing, reduce emissions, conserve resources, and create and sustain clean economy jobs.

“By signing our Earth Day pledge, these companies have reconfirmed their commitment to many sustainability practices, all while increasing the U.S.’s manufacturing competitiveness,” said Nabil Nasr. “We are proud to join forces with all of them.”
