Vinyl Institute Statement on TSCA Comments
WASHINGTON, DC, October 23, 2024 – The Vinyl Institute (VI), a U.S. trade association representing the leading manufacturers of vinyl, today submitted public comments to EPA to assist with the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) review and proposed high priority designation of vinyl chloride (VC). The VI offered these comments to provide key information for consideration during this review period. Below is a statement to be attributed to Ned Monroe, president and CEO of the Vinyl Institute:
“The comments submitted by the VI today will help to ensure EPA considers all the extensive existing data on vinyl chloride during their multi-year review process. The VI and the members of the VI Vinyl Chloride TSCA Consortium have been committed to collaborating with EPA since vinyl chloride was announced as one of five chemicals selected for TSCA prioritization in December of 2023. The information we submitted today is another example of that sharing of knowledge, and we look forward to continued opportunity to inform this important process. Our members adhere to some of the most stringent safety and environmental regulations in the chemical industry, and we remain confident that this process will further demonstrate the production and use of vinyl chloride is safe.”
