Vinyl Institute Welcomes Ned Monroe as President and CEO

WASHINGTON — The Vinyl Institute today announced that Ned Monroe, CAE will join the VI as President and CEO, replacing Dick Doyle who has announced his retirement for the end of 2018 after successfully leading the association over the past seven years.
“The members of the Vinyl Institute are very pleased with the leadership and direction that Dick Doyle provided the association during his tenure, and we want to wish Dick and his family well in retirement,” said VI Chair Dick Mason of Shintech. “We are also thrilled to be bringing on Ned Monroe who has had a very accomplished career in both the association and corporate fields.”
Monroe will lead the national trade association representing the leading manufacturers of vinyl, vinyl chloride monomer, and vinyl additives and modifiers. The Vinyl Institute serves as the voice for the vinyl industry, engaging industry stakeholders in shaping the future of the vinyl industry. The U.S. vinyl industry encompasses nearly 3,000 vinyl manufacturing facilities, more than 350,000 employees, and an economic value of $54 billion.

Prior to joining the VI, Monroe served as the Executive Director of Global Public Affairs and Communications at SC Johnson in Racine, Wisconsin. While there he led all corporate internal and external communications for the privately held global consumer goods company. He directed employee communications, crisis communications, reputation management, media relations and public affairs.
Monroe also served as the Senior Vice President for External Relations at the National Association of Manufacturers. His responsibilities included directing public affairs, issue advocacy, political action, component relations and meeting management. He also served as the treasurer of NAM-PAC. In his almost 20 years’ experience in associations, he also worked at the National Restaurant Association, the National Automatic Merchandising Association and Associated Builders and Contractors, a national trade association of commercial and industrial construction companies.
In his capacity as President and CEO of the Vinyl Institute Monroe will oversee all operations and management of the staff and consultant teams. He will also serve as the primary VI representative to the vinyl product associations, Global Vinyl Council, NAM Council of Manufacturing Associations, Council of Chemical Association Executives, among other organizations that work with the Vinyl Institute as it carries out its mission to advance the interests of the vinyl industry.
Ned is a graduate of the College of William and Mary, and resides in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife Theresa and two sons, Troy and Harry.
