The collaborative student design team from the Southern California Institute of Architecture and the California Institute of Technology made generous use of vinyl building materials in its 2013 Solar Decathlon entry. DALE (Dynamic Augmented Living Environment) featured vinyl wrapping, flooring, windows and doors. This innovative design garnered much attention with its two modules set on tracks allowing it to open and close depending on weather conditions.
